Women's History Month - Mother Teresa

Sommer Kelly • March 7, 2024

HI ladies it's me again and hope y'all are doing well. I'm happy to be sharing another blog with y'all in honor of ''Women's History Month''. The next lady of faith I'm happy to write about today is none other than legendary ''Mother Theresa''. This precious lady was born in 1910 and died in 1997 at the age of 87 years old. She died 27 years ago! Another crazy thing about Mother Theresa was she wasn't born in America she was born in Europe and her given birth name was Mary Thersesa! She was the youngest in her family and her father sadly died when she was very young. But despite the challenges that she faced she committed herself to religious life when she was 12 years old and was fascinated with missionary stories. When she was 18 in 1928, she moved overseas to learn English with the ''Sisters Of Loreto''A year later she arrived in India in 1929 and called herself Theresa after legendary missionary Therese De Lisieux. She has felt it was very important for her to serve the poor and so she adopted Indian citizenship, did medical training, and helped the poor among the poor. Even though she barely had enough to feed herself, she was determined to help others! She later founded in 1950 ''MIssionaries Of Charity'' and would spend the rest of her life helping people in need. "Missionaries of Charity'' would open leprosy outreach, providing medication, and food supplies. Mother Theresa spoke several languages and her outreach reached many countries all over the world with the gospel and her humanitarian efforts. She has visited America and helped over 100 countries all over the world causing her to gain recognition! Mother Theresa never married or had children but she did greatly impact the world with adults and children similar to what Amy Carmichael did. She suffered a few heart attacks in her later years and died in 1997. But her legacy lives on may that motivates us to help people in need as well as share the gospel with them. There you have it ladies. I hope and pray that this blog inspired y'all blessings and have a blessed week everyone.

Hi ladies it's me again and happy Lord's day! I hope and pray that each of you ladies and your families are doing well. I'm happy to present another blog called "My New Pastor At New Life Church" and I'll be sharing with y'all what its been like having him as the new pastor. Again I have stated a number of times in previous blogs that I have been a part of three different Bible-based and Spirit-filled churches my entire 31 years of living in this earth. When I was a baby until I was eight years old, (1994 until 2002) I attended a non-denominational church called "Capital Christian Center Church" now called "Mercy Memorial Baptist Church" and was under Pastor Michael and Pastor Andrea Dudley. Then in 2003 when I was nine years old until 2020 when I was 26 years old for seventeen years I attended and was a member at "Discover Church" formerly called "Oak Creek Assembly Of God Church". I got saved in kids church when I was eleven years old in 2005, received the baptism in the Holy Spirit at eighteen in 2012, was involved with kids choir, youth choir, adult choir, did musicals, (Easter, Independence Day, and Christmas musicals) volunteered in kids ministry, (helped out in Sunday school and sometimes helped in kids church) and did missions trips! That's quite a bit I did there and I became a member there in 2013 when I was nineteen years old and was a member there for seven years while I attended there for seventeen years. But from 2020 on, I've been attending a smaller North side church "New Life Assembly Of God Church" on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights the past five years and have been a member there for four years. I for five years was under Pastor Kevin Olson and he pastored there from 2002 until he retired this year which makes out a total of 23 years. That means I was at the final stage of being at "Capital Christian Center" Church and "Discover Church" for many years the majority of his time there. But now we have a new pastor and his name is Pastor Antonio Bowen and he got to speak at "New Life Assembly Of God Church" July 20th this summer and the Holy Ghost came down that day! He was wrapping up his time at the church he was pastoring at before transitioning to pastoring at "New Life Assembly Of God Church". He attended "New Life Assembly Of God Church" in his youth and was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin before he moved to Nevada in 2009 when he was eighteen years old! He attended seminary school and pastored at different churches while living in Nevada at some churches he was associate pastor while others he was lead pastor. Sunday morning service was wonderful, I and a few others got to help serve Communion, Pastor Bowen preached a powerful message, the time at the altar was great, and we got to fellowship afterwards in the church basement! I'm gonna say what makes Pastor Bowen unique? Well he's the first black pastor I've had in 23 years! Remember when I mentioned the Dudleys? The Dudley's are a godly black couple that led "Capital Christian Center" Church and after we left there, I've been under mostly white pastors and they are Pastor Jerry Brooks (he's still pastoring "Discover Church" to this very day) and Pastor Kevin Olson who previously led "New Life Assembly Of God Church". I'm so happy to have a black pastor and Black Lives Matter lol! The other thing that makes Pastor Bowen unique is he's only three years older than me, has the spiritual gift of word of knowledge, and he's a man of prayer! I've never been under a pastor close to my age ever which is quite insane but I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm very happy about the new pastor and the other thing was I had a say along with the church we voted for the new leader! On the previous pastors I was under I didn't have a say who I was under but I had a say with this one though. As a Christian female leader I know the importance of submitting to a spiritual head male leader and I believe that this one is a good one to submit to. So I want you ladies to know that I do submit to a spiritual covering even though this women's ministry is separate from my church. That's what I wanted to share with you ladies. Blessings to each of y'all, happy Lord's day, and hope to see y'all at Bible study tonight!

Hi ladies it's me again and hope y'all are doing well. Well I'm happy to present another blog called "My Rollercoaster Labor Day Celebration". You might be thinking "Wasn't Labor Day last week?" Yes it was but I'm gonna share with y'all what happened that day. Well I did my morning devotions with prayer and the Bible as always then I decided to sleep in. Well I got very very sick. How many of you know that's it's not fun when you're not feeling well on a holiday or any day for that manner? Well my allergies flared up on Sunday the day before during church in the morning (I attend "New Life Assembly Of God Church" and I shared that on a previous blog.) and I rested after lunch before recording my music video. I later ate dinner and did Bible study and my allergies seemed to have cleared up. Well after my morning devotions and me sleeping in my allergies went from bad to worse I was coughing and sneezing but that wasn't even the worst part. My lower back was hurting, my legs were numb, and I had a slight headache! Whew on Labor Day? Yes that's right y'all! I prayed softly and quoted Isaiah 53:5 "By His stripes I am healed". It was also challenging to eat breakfast and lunch because I didn't have much of an appetite though I did eat some. Don't even mention how I was feeling emotionally feeling extremely vulnerable. How many of you know that being sick can impact you emotionally? I quickly had to learn that but the Lord put a gospel song back to my rememberance called "Safe In His Arms" a gospel anthem by the late Reverend Milton Brunson And "The Community Singers" but the version was gospel artist Vickie Winans version. (Yes that's right she was married to pastor and gospel artist Marvin Winans Sr who's the brother of Bebe and Cece Winans! I know right?) That song reminded me know matter how I felt physically or emotionally because I was feeling vulnerable and unsafe it was God reminding me that I'm safe if I abide in Him. I heard that song in my head over and over again. I did meanwhile get sufficient rest and eventually I got up again maybe 3:30 PM in the afternoon because I slept on and off because my energy was low. Eventually I rose up from my bed and walked downstairs though my legs were very numb and me, my parents, my sister, and my nephew Abraham headed to my great-uncle Uncle Cleo's house. (Uncle Cleo is my paternal grandma's brother one of them anyway and he owns a car business that's lasted 59 years!) We got to see Uncle Cleo of course, his adult kids, his grandkids, great-grandchildren, my grandma and so many others. I believe we got there around maybe 4:30 PM or a little bit after that and we didn't leave until maybe close to 7 PM. Y'all even though Uncle Cleo is an old man he has a sharp mind and he knows how to cook some good food and still loves to host various events! I even got to bring some food home as did other family members! Was my energy still a bit low? Yes but God continued to strengthen me and I believe the warmth of the atmosphere of family somewhat helped too. Was my appetite still low? Sadly yes because I ate lesser than normal but I first dessert though! I've never written a blog talking about what happened to me on Labor Day since I'm private about certain things but I felt what happened to me this past Monday was too good not to write about and I even mentioned what happened on Labor Day before last week's prayer meeting! Yep! This Labor Day will be one I'll never forget but one that God helped bring me through. That's what I wanted to share with you ladies. I hope y'all had a good Labor Day last week since mine was a bit crazy but it's all good. Blessings to each of you ladies and have a blessed week everyone.

Hi ladies it's me again and happy Lord's day! I hope and pray that each of you ladies and your families are doing well. I'm happy to present another blog and it's called "Why I Do Women's Bible Study". I know that several of you who have been with me probably know the answer but some of you who are new may not know the answer. First of all is to keep the tradition of "Sunday night service" going. For those of you who may or may not know "Discover Church" (the church I previously attended and was a member at) used to have Sunday night services as a consistent service.(They also hold Sunday morning services as well too past and present.) Only once in awhile did they not have a Sunday night service. "New Life Assembly Of God Church" (the church I'm currently at on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights) also used to do regular Sunday night services as well too (Of course they hold Sunday school and Sunday morning service) but things have drastically changed. Since Covid, "Discover Church" only does Sunday night service twice a month while "New Life Assembly Of God Church" stopped doing Sunday night services altogether. (They do Thursday night prayer to replace Sunday night service.) The first reason is to keep the Sunday night service tradition going because I used to love attending Sunday night service. The other reason is because there's so many messages from God's Word that He puts on my heart to share and also I like to get into the deep stuff. The other reason is I do it virtually because in person if you rent property or buy property you have to pay for it and you have to ask permission if you host it at someone's house. It's cheaper to do it virtually and some people may live far away and technology can help bridge that gap. The other reason that's painful yet difficult to talk about is why I do Bible study, the prayer meeting, (prayer meeting is for another blog) and women's ministry training is because no traditional church would hire me to be on staff if you can believe that! I won't get into detail about that but I knew that God put something in my heart to do and I prayed for God to show me another way and He did! I also realized there are other ministers who were in the same boat as I was who were rejected by the traditional church in leadership that had to start an online ministry to make up for it. I also do Bible study so I can also lead y'all to the presence of God through singing! For those of you who may not know when I first got started I only started with teaching the Word no singing in 2021! But in 2022, God told me to change that to sing worship songs first then get into the Word. After all that's how most church services do so don't they? The last and final reason is to minister to others who don't feel comfortable in a traditional church setting or unable to go to church in person due to distance. Don't get me wrong do I have having services in person? Yes. Like I said on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights I attend those services in person and prior to Covid, I attended "Discover Church" services in person too. But again I know not everyone is able to do that which is another reason why I offer this and for those who may not feel comfortable with regular church, this is a great experience for them. I know how important it is to gather with the saints. Whether it's in person or virtual because the Bible says in Hebrews 10:25 "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together as the manner of some but exhorting one another much more as we see the Day approaching." Do you wonder why the word Day is capitalized? Let me say this Day here is not just a regular day but Day here is about Jesus coming in the rapture! Did you know that one way to be prepared for the rapture is being in regular fellowship with God's people? Of course there's other ways to prepare for the rapture and that's for another blog so the Scripture emphasizes the importance of gathering with other Christians. I know Christians argue everything has to be in person while others think virtual is all right but honestly it's important to gather period in person or virtual. That's the point and that's the message. (Side note as a female in ministry I go to church on Sunday mornings yes to honor the Lord's day but also to submit to a male leader as a spiritual covering.) That's what I wanted to share with you ladies. Blessings happy Lord's day, hope to see y'all at Bible study, and have a blessed week everyone.

Hi ladies it's me again and happy Tuesday! I hope and pray that each of you ladies and your families are doing well. It's September 2nd the day after Labor Day. I hope and pray that each of you ladies and your families enjoyed time with family and friends on your off day. The title that I have for today is called "Prayer For Teachers And Students". First of all there's so much to pray for and in this blog I'm gonna share with y'all some ideas how we can pray for teachers and students. Number one prayer for protection. I can't emphasize that enough. We all know unfortunately there have been many school shootings that have impacted teachers and students alike such as the "Columbine shooting" in the late 1990s, "Virginia Tech", and what took place in Madison this past year. Of course there have been more shootings than that but we need to pray for God's hedge of protection over our teachers and students. It says in Psalm 91:11 "He shall keep His angels charge over ye and keep thee in all thy ways." Pray for those who seek to shoot people to reconsider their decision and if they try to shoot the bullets don't come out! We must pray against the spirit of murder and I believe school shootings are an attack of the enemy seeking to do as it says in John 10:10 "To steal, kill, and to destroy". Pray for protection. The other thing is pray for teachers to have patience with students and pray that students have the desire to learn. It's important to pray that students have respect for teachers and parents because unfortunately some students have behavior problems which can make teaching difficult. Pray for students who may have challenges in learning to pray that teachers know how to help those students as well so they can pass their classes. Pray for teachers to not experience burn out and not give up when the going gets tough. Teachers go through many things and pray that God will rejuvenate them to keep going and teachers need to know how to take care of themselves too. It's important to against bullying. Bullying is very difficult for students to deal with and if there's bullying, pray that the adults at the school handle it the right way. Most of all if any teachers and students are Christians that they like Matthew 5:16 "To let their light shine before men so they may see their good deeds and praise their Father in heaven". Pray that other teachers and students who are nonChristians see the light and love of Christ and want what they have. Let's also pray that prayer will return back to our schools. I believe that the majority of problems in our schools would be resolved if God is welcomed back to our school system. God will only go where He's welcome. Let's also not forget to pray for homeschool parents as well as teacherpreneurs (as I am) that God will help them as well. My mom was once a homeschool parent who homeschooled me and my sister from preschool through high school while my brother was homeschooled from preschool through middle school. (He later attended a public high school and graduated in 2018.) A teacherpreneur teaches and owns a business and if you ladies can keep my kid and teen program in prayer and also keep my women's ministry training in prayer would greatly be appreciated as well too. That's what I wanted to share with you ladies. Blessings to each of you ladies and have a blessed week everyone.

The Seasonal Shift Of Summer To Fall
By Sommer Kelly August 21, 2025
Hi ladies it's me again and happy Tuesday! I hope and pray that each of you ladies and your families are doing well. I'm happy to present another blog called "The Purpose Of My Christ-Centered Kid/Teen Program". You might be thinking what's this all about? Well the blogs before the blog about the Wisconsin flood, I wrote about my upcoming women's ministry training that I'm seeking to launch this fall. I wrote both part 1 and part 2 about it and this is something else I'm also seeking to launch this fall as well too. What's the name of my program? It's called "Young Live Art Center" and the website is called youngliveartcenteronline.com and it's for young people ages preschool through high school and the purpose is to have a virtual, faith based, and art based program to encourage young people in their faith, art, make friends, and be who God has called for them to be. Another important point is it's challenging finding after school programs out there in person or virtual that are faith based. Most after school programs in person and virtual are secular based. I'm not trying to talk down on them but I'm making a point. Kids and teens need to be in a environment that encourages their faith not discourages it. That's one point I want to make. Another important point I need to make is it's essential for God's people to spiritually and practically support their brothers and sisters in Christ with businesses they start. I believe this one is well worth the investment because it's impacting the next generation. I do hope and pray that in the future to have both a virtual and in person building but having a building isn't cheap renting or owning is why it's all virtual (Zoom and Google Meet) for now. If you have kids, teens, grandkids nieces or nephews preschool age and older and you're looking for something fun for them to do I'd highly encourage y'all to enroll them in this and continue to pray for this. Also the fall is around the corner so if you know a parent in your family, community, or church that's looking for something like this, give them my number, email, and send them the website link youngliveartcenteronline.com for information how to get them enrolled and such. Also if you're a Christian lady looking for maybe going back to school or want extra training, reach out to me as well too. My goal is to grow my kid and teen program with students and have my women's ministry training with students too for this fall since I believe this is what God has called me to do. Blessings, happy Tuesday, have a blessed week, and don't hesitate to reach out to me for questions of enrollment for this program. Blessings.

Hi ladies it's me again and happy Lord's day! I hope and pray that each of you ladies and your families are doing well. The title that I have for this blog is called "Pray For Wisconsin". Why am I writing about this? For those of you who may or may not be aware on August 9th through August 10th bad flooding hit Wisconsin! This is worst flood we've had since 2010! You might be thinking "What happened in 2010?" Well me and my sister were teenagers then, my brother was ten years old, and mom was a homeschool mom then (it was during Summer vacation and we were off school) and we were at home watching TV when suddenly it began to rain. Ever heard the old saying go. "When it rains it pours?" Well that's what happened. I'm not sure if dad had to work or was at music practice at church but it was the four of us at home in 2010 and we headed towards the basement to get the water out. The reason was because we knew if we didn't get the water out we'd lose valuable things especially dad's equipment and we know that music equipment like guitars and amps are not cheap and not easy to replace. It took the four of us taking turns doing our best to get as much water out of the basement as we could and although we lost rugs (rugs can easily be replaced) we by the grace of God didn't lose valuable materials. But sadly some people did lose valuable things during the 2010 flood similar to what happened this year in 2025. Also side note, 2010 was also the same year that a horrible flood hit Nashville, Tennessee too and many country artists and a few Contemporary Christian artists lived there and sadly some lost equipment during that time too. 2010 was the year of bad flooding for both Wisconsin and Nashville, Tennessee! Fast forward to fifteen years later and now we're in the year 2025 and flooding has hit again. Of course we know that bad flooding hit the people of Texas and it got so bad that some kids got washed away in the flood! That's so tragic and it was all over the news! Now it's Wisconsin's turn that got hit with bad flooding August 9th through August 10th where many people's basement (including ours) got flooded really really badly. Not only that, the small church on the North side of Milwaukee I've been attending since 2020 (yes that's right they did allow me to go where only ten people could attend at one time in person) called "New Life Assembly Of God Church" on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights (I've been a member there since 2021 and I've departed from "Discover Church" though I do visit for various events that fit my schedule such as weddings, graduation parties, musicals, Thanksgiving Eve service etc) service was cancelled but me and one of the deacons and deacons wife had to clean out as much water from the churches basement as possible! It was a lot of work but by the grace of God even though various boxes got wet the stuff on the inside didn't get wet! By the grace of God, "New Life Assembly Of God Church" didn't lose microphones or equipment and neither did my dad in the midst of the flood! But again sadly similar to the flood that happened in 2010, some people did lose significant things in this 2025 flood too. Another thing I can't forget to mention is unlike the 2010 flood, the electricity got affected and me, my folks, and our neighbors power was out for ten hours and I had to get out of my virtual Bible study early that Sunday night because we had no light! My mom had to light several candles in the house and my dad and I had to use our cellphones as flash lights to see until the electricity got back on at 10:30 at night! The flood was bad enough but to lose electricity was absolutely no joke! I sent messages on text and fb messenger for Christians who were family and friends to pray for us especially for the electricity to come back on which was very scary. By the grace of God the powers back on but there still is significant damage. As I said many people lost various items such as mattresses, music equipment, (especially musicians) and some people's cars got affected among other things! One of the deacons at church lost electricity and when he had his flashlight on, he heard water trickle from his kitchen to the basement and he saw water all in his yard too! That's how bad it got! Whether you live in Wisconsin or out of state your prayers would be appreciated during this time. I know some folks in upper Wisconsin weren't affected by that but many people were. It's time for us in the body of Christ especially to pray for folks affected by this flood for God to meet their needs for God to restore what they have lost. Pray for the people to have favor with insurance companies to help them get what they need and pray if it rains that it doesn't flood! Of course most of all pray for people who were affected by this flood who don't know Christ as Lord and Savior to get saved for the first time or those who are prodigals (folks who once walked with Christ but drifted away from Him) to come back to Him. I'll be praying about this in my virtual prayer meetings as well too in addition to praying for the missionaries, pastors, sick, our President, revival for America etc. That's what I wanted to share with you ladies. Blessings, happy Lord's day, have a good week, and continue to pray for the people in Wisconsin affected by the flood to recover!

My Women's Ministry Training Part 2.
By Sommer Kelly August 12, 2025
Hi ladies it's me again and happy Lord's day! I hope and pray that each of you ladies and your families are doing well. I'm happy to present another blog called "My Women's Ministry Training". You might be thinking "So what? What's the big deal. Well first of all let me say that the title of this ministry is called "Women's Warriors Academy" that's been exiting for the past four years since 2021. If you go on the about us part it reveals details about the ministry. Anyhow the past four years we have Bible study which takes place Sunday nights, prayer meetings, blogs, (like this) a website, (that you're on right now) and a Facebook group. But the Lord laid on my heart to start a training that coincides with the ministry. I want the ministry to continue to grow and another way for it to grow is to start a virtual training on weekdays. Also on the website there's a tab called "Women's Warriors Bible College" tab where it shows where you can register for a couple of courses. The other thing is why a women's training? Well because I don't have a team of regular people in ministry! The only team person I have is the Holy Spirit as well as website holders that help me with this website! But apart from the Lord and website holders helping me, I don't have a "regular team" to lead as of right now. I also see the value of education as well too since the training will also be educational. The purpose of the women's training is to train Christian women called to either join the "Women's Warriors" team or become a women's ministry director at a regular church. One course is the Associates degree where women taking that course have to be eighteen years old or older, have a high school diploma or GED, and have a desire to be in ministry. The book they will need is "People Of The Spirit" book and there will be homework questions, quizzes, and tests for that and that will start two days after Labor Day and it will be for two semesters. The second course will be the GED course that will take place the day after Labor Day and it will be for those who dropped out of high school to gain credits in taking Bible courses like "Bible Doctrines", "The Spirit Empowered Leader" as well as regular course work too. The purpose of the GED is to prepare students to be qualified to enter the Associates degree level because in order to take that course they'll need to have a high school diploma or GED to take it. Along with there being education requirements there's spiritual requirements as well. I'm looking for women eighteen and older who are God-fearing women, hard working women, humble, teachable, Spirit-led women, women of the Word, consistent women, women of character, and women who feel a sincere call to ministry. Of course they'll have a choice to either join the "Women's Warriors" team or become a women's ministry director at a regular church when they're done. (Side note maybe next year I'll add a bachelor's degree level as well that can replace the GED part.) The deadline to register for these classes will be August 31st the day before Labor Day so I would encourage y'all to talk to me about this as soon as possible and such. This is something I've been earnestly praying about and seeking the Lord about it and I'm counting on women who will respond to this and I'm determined to obey God and do what He tells me to do. Go on the "Women's Warriors Bible College" tab where you will find how to sign up for the GED portion and the Associates degree portion of it. Hurry because the deadline to sign up is August 31st the day before Labor Day and I want to know who will be able to take the courses and such. I'll be teaching the "People Of The Spirit" on certain days and I'll be teaching the GED course on separate days and I'll be teaching either on fb messenger or Zoom. I'll be teaching those classes before teaching my after school program classes. (That's for another blog the after school program part.) Side note I've done my research and there is no other Bible training in Wisconsin that's for women only whether in person or virtual! If I were y'all whether you're a newer Christian, been a Christian for awhile, newer to my Bible study and prayer meeting or been coming for several years, I'd encourage y'all to sign up or share this with other Christian women as well too. I want to make it easier not harder for Christian women to get in the ministry and help this ministry to grow or be a women's ministry director at a regular church. I believe that in the last days, God will not only raise up male leaders in ministry but God will raise up women leaders that will grow the local church and impact the lost for the cause of Christ to work together with men leaders. This women's ministry training will train Christian women called to be pastors, prophetess, and teachers of the Word of God and it's racially diverse, age diverse, (be as young as eighteen all the way up to sixties age and older) status diverse, (Married, single, divorced, widowed, divorced and remarried, and widowed and remarried.) and is interdenominational. (That means regardless of what church denomination you're in such as "Assembly Of God Church", "Church Of God In Christ Church", "Baptist", etc as long as you're saved, living for Christ, and got the Holy Ghost is all that counts.) If you want to continually be a attendee for the Bible study on Sunday nights and prayer meetings on Tuesday nights (occasionally meet on Mondays if need be) and not be part of the training is fine. These courses are for those who sense a call of ministry and who want to go beyond being just an attendee. That's what I wanted to share with you ladies. Blessings, happy Lord's day, check out the Women's Warriors Bible College tab to sign up for the courses, and have a blessed week everyone.
