Hi ladies it's me again and happy Tuesday! I hope and pray that you ladies and your families are doing well. Well this is my last blog for ''Black History Month" for this year (don't worry I'll share more about them hopefully next year!) and the one we've all been waiting for. The last blog for ''Black History Month'' is the one and only famous Dr Martin Luther King Jr! I knew there was no way of concluding my ''Black History Month'' blog without including him! He was born in January 15th 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia to Dr Michael King Sr (later renamed Martin Luther King Sr) and Alberta King (nee Williams). He had two older siblings named Christine King Farris (born 1927 died 2023) and Aldred Daniel King (born 1930 died 1969) He grew up in Ebenezer Baptist church as a pastor's kid and grew up singing ''I Want To Be Like Jesus'' as a child. His dad King Sr was the pastor of Ebenezer Baptist church about four or five decades after he took over the death of King Jr's maternal grandfather Revered Adam Williams Alberta's dad! In 1934, King Sr took a trip to Germany was inspired by Protestant leader Martin Luther and changed his name to Martin Luther King Sr and changed his young son's name to Martin Luther King Jr! King Jr also was a very smart student in school too. He skipped both ninth and twelve grades and graduated from high school in 1944! He got his bachelor's degree at Morehouse college in 1948 at 19 years old! In 1954 at 25 received his PHD! Simply put he was a well educated man! In 1953 he married his sweetheart Corretta Scott he she was attending New England Conservatory of Music. He fell for her ''romantically'' before she fell for him and they were married in 1953! They had four children Yolanda (born 1955 died 2007), Martin Luther King 3, (born 1957) Dexter Scott born 1961 died 2024) and Berniece King (born 1963) Martin Luther King Jr was associate pastor with his dad for some time before he became Civil rights leader. Civil rights movement started when a black woman named Mrs. Rosa Parks in 1955 got in jail for refusing to give her seat to a white man. That would lead to a bus boycott in Montgomery, Alabama where blacks refused to ride buses into it could be racial integrated. Also Dr King Jr took the ''nonviolence approach'' for blacks standing up for their hearts and took Jesus' words to heart to fight with love for enemies. Also Dr King Jr met Dr Billy Graham at Southern Christian Conference and maintained friendship with him until his death. There was even a time when Dr Graham sent bail money to get Dr King Jr out of jail because Dr King Jr was arrested about 39 different times and wrote letters from the Birmingham jail! Also because of Dr King Jr, Dr Billy Graham would have a heart to reach blacks and racial integration his crusades since he was the top known evangelist in his day. Dr King Jr also befriended President John F Kennedy and how that came about was his family hadn't heard of him for days and got hold of the President to give Dr King Jr his freedom! What he's most famous for is his 1963 speech in Washington called ''I Have A Dream''. He had a dream that blacks and whites would hold hands and declared ''free at last!'' He also the following year at 35 years old won the Nobel Peace Prize as well too. Dr King Jr prayed hard and fought hard to bring racial justice for blacks and influenced Congress to pass ''Civil Right Act of 1964'' prohibiting discrimination against race, sex, or religion in being promoted and fired unjustly! Plus he fought for blacks to have the right to vote. Sadly in Memphis, Tennessee at the top of the hotel, Dr King Jr got assassinated at the age of 39 years old causing the nation to be in mourning. But after his death, his widow Corretta founded the King Museum and in the 1980s came up with the holiday Dr Martin Luther King day in honor of his legacy! Corretta his wife would later die in the year 2006 years after her husband's death. Also two of King Jr's children King 3 and Berniece King are Christians and ministers just like their dad and are still living! There you have it ladies, my last blog for Black History Month! What a way to honor Dr King Jr who had the heart of our King Jesus! I always say that close to his birthday and Black History Month! I pray that we continue to carry on the dream for racial equality both in and outside the church and carry on Christ's dream to bring the gospel to all nations! Blessings, enjoy the blog, and have a blessed week everyone!
