Hi ladies it's me again and happy Tuesday! I hope and pray that each of you ladies and your families are doing well. Im happy to present another blog called "Mental Health And Natalie Grant's Story". I know many of them are thinking "What in the world does Natalie Grant have anything to do with mental health?" Well I'm glad you asked and I'll be sharing with y'all lessons we can learn from this precious woman and how we can help others. In case you're unfamiliar with her she was born and raised in Seattle, Washington, the youngest of five kids, and got saved at a young age. She also grew up singing in church and was a Fine Arts participant in middle and high school! (Side note Sarah Reeves, Matthew West, Francesca Battistelli, and Blanca were also Fine Arts participants in middle and high school too who are now successful Christian artists! I participated in Fine Arts in middle and high school too!) She also struggled with bullimia in college but God helped her overcome. She later became a Christian artist by first joining a theme Christian musical group called "Truth" from the mid to late 1990s ("Truth" was a band from 1971 until 2001 before they disbanded.) and then she became a solo artist, got married to her husband Bernie Herms, and won many Dove awards. She and her husband were told they could never have kids but seven years to their marriage they used IVF and were able to get pregnant with their twin daughters Gracie and Isabella in 2007! But a few years later (in 2010) she took a pregnancy test and found out she was "naturally pregnant" and was in shock and that's where she struggled with PPD (Postpartum depression.) That's the point of the blog. A Christian, wife, mother, Christian artist, and philanthropist (she started "Hope For Justice" in 2005 to advocate against human trafficking) battles with Postpartum depression after the birth of her third child! But she remained quiet about it and hid for 18 months before she got help. But thankfully by the grace of God, she sought medical help, went to Christian counseling, and talked to her husband as well as sought God in prayer. In fact that's what motivated her to release her 2013 album "Hurricane" (she released many albums before and after that) and has shared her story with many women around the world to urge them to get help in this area. That's why I'm sharing this story. If you or someone you know is struggling with Postpartum depression do what Natalie Grant did get help! Natalie could have been prideful saying she was "okay" when she wasn't okay. She got medical help, counseling, and spiritual help all three! Did she get over depression overnight? No!!!!! But overtime she did. That's why I wanted to share this blog with y'all. Blessings, I pray this blog encouraged y'all, and hope y'all have a great week.
