Parable Of The Wedding Feast

Sommer Kelly • April 23, 2024

Hi ladies it's me again and happy Lord's day! I hope and pray that each of you ladies and your families are doing well. I'm happy to be back with another blog and another parable from our Lord called ''Parable Of The Wedding Feast''. Matthew has an account of that Matthew 22 but the account I'm doing is Luke 14;15-24. Christ tells the story about the wedding supper and sent servants out to invite as many people to come to his wedding banquet. But sadly the people didn't take his servants seriously because one said. ''I've bought a field and need to go use it. Please excuse me.'' The servants invited another person who said. ''I've bought some yokes of oxen and need to use them. Please excuse me.'' The servants invited another person who said. ''I just got married so please excuse me.'' The servants reported back to their Master what happened and their Master was upset! He said. ''Go and find the poor, the maime, blind, and the crippled to come to my wedding banquet.'' But the servants said. ''Lord what you have wanted has been done and there's still room.'' Go out to the highways and hedges and compell them to come in that my house may be filled. I tell you none of the those who were invited first shall get a taste of my wedding banquet.'' Now I know it's the Spring time and not quite ''wedding season'' yet. For many weddings take place in the summer and fall time especially in Wisconsin not so much the Spring or Winter time. (Perhaps if you live in a warmer climate there maybe weddings year around!) Anyway, what does this parable apply for us today? The Master represents our Lord and Savior and God our Heavenly Father. We know in the book of Revelations 19 talks about the Marriage Supper Of The Lamb. We know that it's God's will for all to be saved as it says in 2 Peter 3;9 right? Well how many people do we know make excuses to either be saved or to grow in their Christian faith? The first said. ''I bought a field.'' In our modern day it will be like someone saying. ''I just bought a house and I have no time for God or no time to grow in my faith.'' The second said. ''I bought oxen.'' In our day it will be like someone saying ''I bought a luxurious car or on a luxurious vacation. I have no time to get saved or grow deeper in my faith.'' The third said. ''I got married.'' Well I believe the third one is self-explanatory. Let me make a disclaimer: I love weddings! I love weddings more than funerals! But the third used him getting married as an excuse and some people will use they got married as an excuse not to get saved or grow in their faith. Now ladies, Many of you know I'm a kingdom single and been single for quite a while and I'm believing in God for a mate. But I tell God I'm believing for a ''kingdom marriage!'' What do I mean by that? I'm believing in finding a godly man to serve the Lord with and advance His kingdom in the way I've been doing as a single man but seeking to take it to the next level by getting married! I want a Christian/kingdom marriage! I won't use marriage as an excuse not to serve God! No way Jose! But people make excuses like that! The Master asked the servants to invite the least, last, and lowest to his banquet because they're not distracted by the things those men were distracted by. It's important for us to pray for people that are lost or wayward (those who once knew the Lord but drifted away) to pray their hearts will be receptive to get saved or come back to Christ and pray nothing gets in the way of growing their faith! And also pray they and us will be ready for the Marriage SUpper of the Lamb! I'm not saying it's wrong to buy a house, a luxurious car or vacation, or getting married, but we must keep the Lord in the center of those things! That's what I wanted to share with y'all. I pray that this blog encouraged y'all and pray that we in the body of Christ will be ready for the Marriage SUpper Of The Lamb! Blessings, happy Lord's day, and have a blessed week everyone!

Hi ladies it's me again and happy Tuesday! I hope and pray that each of you ladies and your families are doing well. I'm happy to present one more blog for "Women's History Month" and another one for "Holy Week". It has been a joy writing about the lives of wonderful women who have made a difference in the past and the present all throughout the month of March and can't wait to do it again next year in 2027. On this last day of "Women's History Month" and "Holy Week", the title of the blog is called "The Wailing Women At The Foot Of The Cross". Why am I mentioning the wailing women? Well folks we're at the end of the month of March and these women existed in the Bible. Again we're in "Holy Week" now that began on "Palm Sunday" and I shared a previous blog about that and we're honoring "Good Friday" which is coming up this week. As we know "Good Friday" was bad for Jesus but good for us later on. Who were the wailing women who mourned for Jesus at the cross and what is their story? Let's go back to Luke 8 where it talks about the women who followed Jesus. Hey did you ladies know that Jesus has female disciples too? He sure did! Their names are Mary Magdalene who had seven demons driven out of her, (Side note no where in Scripture ever said she was a prostitute or adulterous) Joanna wife of Cuza, (her husband was Herod Antipas's manager) Susanna, and other gospel accounts in Matthew 28 and Mark 16 mention other women Mary mother of James the younger (also a male disciple of Jesus) and Joses and Salome. (It's believed this Salome was the wife of Zebedee, mother of John the Revelator and James, and likely the younger sister of the Virgin Mary! There was another Salome who was the stepdaughter of Herod Antipas who asked for the head of John the Baptist! There were two different Salome's in the Bible!) Those were the women who followed Jesus along with the twelve other men disciples for three years. They also financially supported Jesus' ministry and they were His friends too. They likely were present during "Palm Sunday" and followed Jesus all the way even to the day of His crucifixion! There was another very important woman along with the women of Galilee and that was Jesus' mother the Virgin Mary. We know that the Angel Gabriel appeared to her in Luke 1 and promised her that Christ would be conceived through the Holy Spirit and that His kingdom shall be no end! I can only imagine the pain she must have felt to see Jesus be scourged 39 times, saw Him carry the cross, and saw Him hang there! I can only imagine the pain that Mary Magdalene, the rest of the women of Galilee, along with John the Revelator who saw what took place at the cross. I can only imagine how they must have mourned and many of y'all may have seen paintings of the crucifixion with women weeping over Christ's death. Here's another question to ask besides John the Revelator where were all the other male disciples? We know that Peter denied Jesus three times and hid, Judas Iscariot betrayed Christ and later committed suicide, and the other male disciples abandoned Christ! But you ladies know what's crazy? Christ still fulfilled His mission regardless and His mother, the women of Galilee, and John the Revelator refused to abandon Jesus despite His crucifixion! They stayed loyal to Christ despite it hurting them emotionally and despite Jesus' reputation being humiliated! As we know the Bible says in Isaiah 53 "He was pierced for our transgressions, bruised for our iniquities, the chastisement of our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed. It also says He carried our griefs and sorrows". We know that Christ was crucified during Passover (a Jewish holiday about the Passover lamb as rememberance a of their time in Egypt) and through His blood that mankind could be forgiven of their sins and put in right standing with the Father. Jesus was crucified between two thieves one got saved while the other didn't and Jesus motioned for John the Revelator to take care of His mother Mary. (See John 19) Many scholars and theologians believe that Joseph the carpenter Jesus' stepdad had died leaving Mary a widow and Mary's other adult children were non-believers by the time of Jesus' crucifixion. Also widows were dependent on their children to take care of them and Christ did that for years until His ministry when one of His brothers had to care for her. Now He needed someone else to do it and He summoned John the Revelator to do so and how thoughtful of our Lord as He was dying made sure His mother was taking care of! Then our Lord cried out "It is finished" and the curtain was torn in two in the "Holy of holies" room. The reason that was significant was because only the high priest could go in and they would have died if they weren't right! But God the Father ripped that curtain so all could come to His presence through the blood of His Son Jesus! Then the Roman soldiers, Joseph of Arrmethia, and Nicodemus took Jesus' body for burial at the garden tomb and the Virgin Mary, Mary Magdalene, and the rest of the women of Galilee followed to see where their Lord, Savior, friend, and Rabbi would be buried. Talk about loyalty! Christ was loyal to the Father's will and became obedient to death on the cross (see Philippians 2) and John the Revelator, the Virgin Mary and the women of Galilee were loyal to Jesus to the point of death and burial! I hope and pray that's a lesson and encouragement for us ladies for today will we be loyal to Jesus even though it's costly? If it costs our reputation, relationships, during persecution, or suffering will we still love Him and serve Him? When others walk away from Him or betray us will we be faithful to Him? What an example the Virgin Mary and women of Galilee were being loyal to Christ during His worst time and their dark day on "Good Friday". What a way to conclude "Women's History Month" honoring women who were loyal to Jesus no matter what came their way! Of course we know that's not the end of the story. We know that Easter Sunday is coming and I'll be sharing the rest of the story what happened to the women of Galilee on that day which is for another blog! That's what I wanted to share with you ladies. Blessings, enjoy the blog, "Happy Women's History Month" and happy "Holy Week" as well!

Hi ladies it's me again and happy Lord's day! I hope and pray that each of you ladies and your families are doing well. I'm taking a little bit of a break from "Women's History Month" and I'll be sharing a blog honoring "Holy Week!" What officially kicks off "Holy Week?" Well it's "Palm Sunday" the week before Easter that kicks it off! What's "Palm Sunday" all about? Well it's about when Christ and His disciples were on their way traveling to Jerusalem and they notice a mother donkey and colt. (a baby donkey) The disciples take the colt and give it to Jesus and He rides on it. You can read this account in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John where when Christ rides on the donkey and His disciples are with Him when a crowd of people gather to meet Him. Who was this crowd? Well many people were aware of what happened to Lazarus (see John 11 for that) who was in the grave four days and rose from the dead by Christ! Word traveled fast about that and the crowd took their coats and laid it on the ground and waved Palm branches and shouted. "Hosanna! Hosanna blessed is He that comes in the name of the Lord!" What and why was the crowd of crying out? When they said "Hosanna" they were crying out and chanting for Jesus to save them! You know what's funny about that? In fact Jesus' name actually means "Savior or Salvation is of the Lord!" Here's something else to think about, have y'all wondered about why Christ asked His disciples to go get Him a donkey and not a horse? Well number one it was to fulfill prophecy from the Old Testament. The Scripture for that is mentioned in Zechariah 9:9 KJV says. "Rejoice greatly O daughters of Zion shout O daughter of Zion: Behold thy King cometh unto thee, He is just and having salvation: Lowly and riding on a colt". Christ number one came to fulfill prophecy from the Old Testament! (Side note Zechariah in the Old Testament is different from Zechariah in the New Testament. Zechariah from the Old Testament is a prophet while Zechariah in the New Testament is a priest, the husband of Elizabeth, and father of John the Baptist!) The second reason is the importance of knowing what significant animals kings in the ancient times ride on and their significance. If a king rode on a donkey either in his nation or to another nation meant he came to bring peace. But if a king rode in his nation or another nation on a horse it meant he's going to war! Some of you ladies may or may not know that in the book of Revelations 19:11-16 depicts our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ coming out of heaven with the armies of heaven (the raptured saints) riding on a horse where He's declared "King of kings and Lord of lords!" In the future our Lord and Savior will ride on a horse to make war with the Anti-Christ (Side note the Anti-Christ is not President Trump!) and other evil armies that come against Israel! (Side note that's why it's important for us in the body of Christ to stand with Israel as well as pray for their salvation! Anyone that fights Israel is a enemy of our Lord period and there's tons of Scripture to back that!) But when Christ on "Palm Sunday" rode on a donkey He came to bring peace not war! (War is for a much later time!) But here's what's so interesting about "Palm Sunday". It was like a parade for Jesus and the Pharisees hated it! Not surprising right? The Pharisees said in Luke 19:39 KJV. "Master rebuke thy disciples!" But Christ replied in verse 40, "I tell you that if they hold their peace the stones would immediately cry out!" Wow! That talks about why our praise is so important because if we don't the rocks will cry out! But here's another important point to remember. When the crowd shouted "Hosanna! Hosanna!" they were right about that. But they assumed that when Christ arrived in Jerusalem during that time, they assumed He was going to come overthrow the Roman government and the Pharisees and establish His earthly kingdom right then and there! The funny thing about that is that the male disciples (not the lady disciples Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary mother of James the younger, Susanna, and Salome which I'll write two more blogs in honor of them!) assumed the same thing as well too that Christ would establish His earthly kingdom in Jerusalem at that time! But as we know they were completely ignorant that Christ came to seek and save that which was lost (see Luke 19:10) and only later come back to rule the kingdoms of this world during the "Millennial reign". (That's for another time and for another blog!) Neither the crowd nor Christ's male disciples even considered the cross and resurrection much less entering the kingdom of heaven but ladies Jesus wasn't blind sighted nor ignorant what He was about to face. Jesus is fully God and fully Man knew what challenges awaited Him in Jerusalem. He knew that though the crowd was cheering for Him on "Palm Sunday" would later chant "Crucify Him" on "Good Friday". Ladies let me share something startling. Just because someone may sing Jesus praises or compliment us doesn't mean they care about us or have our hearts. It's because when Christ would later get arrested, accused, and treated badly the crowd wanted nothing to do with Him! I pray that we ladies don't ever become like that forsaking our Lord or each other when we get tested because of our walk with Christ. Christ came to bring us to a spiritual kingdom of heaven and the way of that would be through the cross! So as we celebrate today and the rest of "Holy Week" may we be appreciated for what Jesus has done for us, may our love for Him grow, and may we never take Him for granted. May we also praise and worship Him in spirit and in truth mentioned from John 4:24. That's what I wanted to share with you ladies. Blessings to each of you ladies, happy Lord's day, and happy "Palm Sunday!"

Hi ladies it's me again and happy Tuesday! I hope and pray that each of you ladies and your families are doing well. I'm happy to announce another blog for "Women's History Month" and that is the life of Adrienne Bailon/Houghton! It's my first time writing about a Hispanic American woman in two years since writing about Jaci Velasquez for "Women's History Month!" What's Adrienne's story? She was born in New York City, New York to a Puerto Rican mother named Nilda and Ecuadorian father named Freddie and had an older sister. Adrienne was a second generation immigrant which often comes with it's own set of challenges. But despite that, Adrienne grew up in a Christian home, that kept her rooted, and she got saved. In 1999 she sang in the church choir at "Madison Square Garden" where she was discovered by Ricky Martin and asked if she wanted to join a girl group! There were two other young women in the group called "3LW" along with Kiely Williams and another young woman named Naturi Naughton and signed to Epic records. They released their self-titled debut album in 2000 which caused for Adrienne to be introduced to the spotlight as a teenager! Two years later they released a follow up album in 2002 called "A Girl Can Mack" which was the last project Adrienne was on. Later she auditioned for a Disney musical film called "The Cheetah Girls" along with Kiely Williams, Sabrina Bryan, and Raven Symone which did well. That also was the same time that Jessica Benson auditioned and joined "3LW" and released "Point Of No Return" which didn't do as well as the previous projects. Adrienne, Kiely, and Sabrina released their Christmas album called "Cheetahlicious Christmas" and worked on another film together. They starred in "The Cheetah Girls 2" along with Raven Symone and that film has been one of the most successful Disney channel movies of all time besides "High school Musical"! (Side note Raven Symone never joined "The Cheetah Girls" group outside the movie for her to concentrate on her solo career!) "The Cheetah Girls" released their 2007 album "TCG" which was their last album release. In 2008 they starred in final series of "The Cheetah Girls" called "One World" and after that the band disbanded. But Adrienne kept on acting and starred in films such as "Coach Carter", "All You've Got", (along with R&B artist Ciara), and "I'm In Love With Church Girl" to name a few! (Side note "I'm In Love With Church Girl" is about Adrienne playing Vanessa Leon a young woman who loves the Lord falls for a gangsta and prisoner named Miles and through her example comes to Christ. They fall in love, get married, and start a church together. It also starts TobyMac and Israel Houghton helped produce the movie!) She also cohosted from 2013 until 2022 a show called "The Real" and won an Emmy award and coanchored from 2022 to 2023 "E News". Adrienne has also had ups and downs in her romantic relationships which has caused some public scrunity. She dated Rob Kardashian (relative of Kim Kardashian) from 2007 until 2009 and they broke up due to infedelity on Rob's end. Them she dated music producer Lenny Santiago for six years and got engaged him before breaking up in mid 2015! Then in March of 2016, she dated a Christian, worship leader, gospel artist, and newly divorced Israel Houghton! Now that for sure got a lot of attention in both the Christian world and secular world. Adrienne got criticized that's "she's the one who broke up the marriage" when in reality she was in another romantic relationship before dating Israel Houghton! Israel Houghton is a biracial man who used to be worship leader at "Lakewood Church" (pastored by Joel Osteen) and has been a worship artist for years! He's known for songs such as "Lord You Are Good", "Friend Of God", "With Long Life", "I Just Wanna Say", "Jesus At The Center", "Thank you Lord For Saving Me" to name several and has been a solo artist and collaborated with "New Breed"! In other words, he's a household name in the Christian music world! The other thing is that he had four children from his first marriage to former wife Meleasa (They were married from 1994 year I was born until they divorced in February 2016) and had two kids out of wedlock from other relationships! But none of that was known until he got divorced and when that happened, many Christians got mean-spirited about that! (Very similar things happened to Sandi Patty and Amy Grant when they got divorced in the 1990s and many Christians got mean-spirited over that as well too. But despite that they both remarried, repented to the Lord, and rebuilt their music careers and overtime fans received them back!) Also Adrienne and Israel Houghton met and became friends in 2013 while Israel was still married to Meleasa and while Adrienne was then dating Lenny Santiago! Their friendship lasted awhile and despite people's comments, they dated in March 2016 and dated for the next several months. In August 2016 they got engaged and got married at a small ceremony in November of 2016! What a rollercoaster year it was for them! It's Adrienne's only marriage while it's Israel's second marriage and Adrienne also became "stepmom" to Israel's kids from his previous relationships! Adrienne also sadly struggled with infertility for several years of her marriage to Israel but despite that they cleaved to God and each other despite that. But in 2022 they gave birth to a baby boy that brought joy to their family while keeping the Lord in the center of their marriage! They also have collaborated together multiple times especially on Israel's projects and continue to learn how to blend their family! That's what I wanted to share with you ladies! Whew what a woman who stood with the Lord and by her man despite comments others have made! May that be a lesson for us to stand firm in the Lord and stand for those we care about despite what others say! Blessings, happy Tuesday, and have a blessed week everyone.

Hi ladies it's me again and happy Lord's day! I hope and pray that each of you ladies and your families are doing well. I'm happy to present another blog continuing to honor "Women's History Month" and the lady today I'm talking about is "Honoring Lysa Terkeurst". The name should sound familiar especially for those of you who love reading nonfiction books. You maybe wondering what's her background. Well she was born in 1969 in Tallahassee, Florida and sadly encountered sexual abuse at a young age. To make matters more challenging, her parents divorced when she was in Middle school but her mom later remarried Lysa's stepdad. Lysa struggled with her self-worth after her parents divorce and it impacted the way she viewed God. (Side note that's not unusual for people to feel that way after the tragedy of divorce. ) Lysa eventually graduated from high school in 1987 and when she went to college, ("Furman University") her sixteen month old little sister Hayley died and went to heaven! I can only imagine the grief that she, her mom, stepdad, and other siblings must have went through when that happened. Also while in college she had an abortion but also when she got saved and has walked with the Lord since then. She graduated from "Furman University" in 1991 and eventually relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina and has resigned there for many years. Eventually Lysa met Art Terkeurst through mutual friends fell in love and got married in 1993 when she was 24 years old. She and her first husband Art went on to have three biological daughters and started "Proverbs 31 Ministries" when her daughters were little while Art worked a regular job. Eleven years to their marriage in 2004, she and Art adopted two boys ages fourteen and twelve from Africa which made them from being a family of five to a family of seven! Wow what a big family! Lysa had a heart to adopt though she wasn't sure about it but before she adopted her sons God gave her various confirmations for she and her first husband Art to adopt. Even her young daughters begged her and Art to adopt which made it easier for them! Lysa learned how to balance her walk with the Lord, her marriage, her kids, and her ministry "Proverbs 31 Ministries" when God commissioned her to do something else which was to become a Christian author! Lysa has published many books such as "Living On Purpose", "Made To Crave", "When Women Say Yes To God", "Uninvited", "It's Not Supposed To Be This Way", "Forgiving What You Can't Forget", "Boundaries And Goodbyes", and "I Trust You But I Don't". I'm sure she wrote more books than that and the books I didn't mention y'all can Google on the internet to look them up! She's a New York bestselling author which helped make "Proverbs 31 Ministries" to be in the "spotlight" and has spoken on many women's events at various churches across the country and all over the world! "Proverbs 31 Ministries" is a non-denominational online women's ministry that shares devotionals, podcasts, Bible studies, that relates to issues that women face today as well as offer Lysa's books and other women on her staff's books too. (Some of those women are Tracie Miles Crystal Evans Hurst, Lisa Allen just to name a few!) Despite her success in her books and "Proverbs 31 Ministries", Lysa had a very challenging life behind the scenes. As her kids were becoming teenagers and young adults, she noticed a change in her first marriage where things drastically went wrong. During the last seven years of Lysa's first marriage, (years 2015 and 2022) she noticed changes in Art's behavior and she eventually found out he had an affair and had substance addiction problems! Lysa didn't know what to do but she prayed to the Lord for help and went to Christian counseling with her first husband seeking to repair their broken marriage. By this point, her kids were graduating from high school and college as well as getting married and having families while she was dealing with the challenges of her first marriage. She and Art were separated twice but they reconciled in 2018 renewing their 25 year marriage vows. But sadly things took a drastic turn for the worst when Art had a second affair in 2021 a year into COVID and Lysa prayed again about what to do. She decided to separate again, go back to Christian counseling, and filed for divorce. Her divorce wasn't final until 2022 when she was 53 years old after 29 years of marriage and with all five of her kids grown and out of the house! Lysa stated that the reason of her divorce was because of adultery and addiction from her former husband Art and decided to take a break from the romantic world. She thought when she got divorced that she'd never find love again but God in His sense of humor had other plans. In 2023, a year after her divorce she online dated and met a Christian man named Chaz Adams that's two years younger than her! What's his story? He was born in 1971 and raised in Pondera Vera, Florida was married to his first wife, had two kids a son and daughter, and works for "Health Insurance". But despite his good job he had a very broken life and sadly struggled with alcoholism for many years as well as his late brother. That impacted his first marriage and his life started going downhill but in 2014 something changed. He decided to go to a "AA meeting" to get help with his alcohol addiction and met a pastor who prayed over him. He was 43 years old by then and that was the same year he got saved! God and rehab helped him overcome his alcohol addiction which helped heal his relationship with his teenagers. Even though his relationship with his teens improved things fell apart in his first marriage. His first wife committed adultery, they separated, and eventually divorced. But Chaz kept pressing on in his walk with the Lord and was single for seven years before he started dating again. His son and daughter eventually graduated from high school and college and Chaz prayed for a godly relationship. In 2023 when Lysa was 54 and Chaz was 52 years old they met through online dating and later for several months dated in person. Lysa was shocked she "fell head over heels" in love with Chaz and eventually she and Chaz got engaged in late 2023. When Lysa was 55 and Chaz was 53 years old, they got remarried in 2024 and their adult children, and young grandkids gathered together to celebrate their wedding ceremony in France! Chaz had two young adult kids from his first marriage and Lysa had five adult children from her first marriage while also gaining many more grandkids causing them to have a blended family! God turned what the devil meant for evil in Lysa's life and turned it around for her good! I hope this story is an inspiration to you ladies. Blessings to each of you ladies, happy Lord's day, and have a blessed week everyone.

Hi ladies it's me again and happy Tuesday! I hope and pray that each of you ladies and your families are doing well. I'm taking a break from "Women's Warriors Month" and want pause and wish y'all "Happy Saint Patrick's Day!" Y'all might be thinking who am I writing today about? Well ladies it's the one and only Saint Patrick himself! I know a lot of us wear green, eat cabbage, eat certain kinds of meat, and maybe drink Shamrock shakes (because it's green lol) but few people actually know anything about the real "Saint Patrick"! Ladies I didn't know much about him either until I researched about him four years ago and found out some surprising things about him. First of all he was raised in a well to do household with his dad a tax collector and Deacon while his grandfather was a priest or worked for a priest. But according to him God was not important to him during his youth and perhaps described himself having a "wild youth". It's unknown what year he was born but many believe that he was born in Great Britain and was raised there until he was a teen or young adult. When he got older something very unfortunate happened. What happened was as a teen or older he was captured by some Irish pirates and taken captive as a slave to Ireland! Whew! Does that sound interesting or familiar? Do you ladies remember the story of Joseph in the Old Testament? He was sold by his ungodly and narcissistic brothers as a slave and some folks kidnapped him to be a slave in Egypt! Y'all know the story right? That's exactly what happened to Patrick and he remained a slave there for the next six years. It would be when he worked as a slave it was extremely brutal on him but that's when he saw his need for Christ. Whew! That's where the part "saint" comes in. His time as a slave caused him to give his life to Christ and live for Him from that day forward until his death. As he worked as a slave he grew in his Christian walk and his character changed. Eventually he was thankfully released as a slave and was able to return back to his home country to Great Britain and reunite with his long lost family members. He remained in Great Britain for at least three years where he got a time became a bishop at a church there! Wow! After being in that position for three years, he had a vision from the Lord about a man crying out they needed him back in Ireland to share the gospel! Now I know if I would have been in his shoes I would have "argued" with God I'm not going back there after being treated badly there. Patrick paused and thought about it and decided to obey God left Great Britain and headed back to Ireland. When he returned back to Ireland he became a missionary there at the very place that mistreated him previously! Wow! Isn't it something that God can turn what the enemy meant for evil and turn it around for our good? God did that for Saint Patrick and he led many wealthy people and common people to Christ as well as water baptized many people in Ireland as well too. Of course that didn't come without its challenges because he had death threats and folks threatened to kidnap him again. But the Lord protected him and as the gospel was declared Christianity spread throughout Ireland. It's even been reported some political leaders in Ireland got saved and the wealthy women he led to Christ became nuns! Wow! He also later started a church there where he became a bishop and remained faithful to that for the rest of his life. Of course that wasn't without its challenges. There were times that he had death threats against him and he dealt with the wealthy wanting to give him gifts but refusing them. He also never married nor had children because he chose to remain celiberate for the Lord and focus on his ministry. He had some health issues as a old man and eventually died but his legacy lives on. Ladies I can't believe this information I shared with y'all because I celebrated "Saint Patrick's Day" all my life but never knew the history behind that until four years ago! When I have a family someday they will know the history behind the holiday! What's the purpose of having a holiday and not know the history behind it? So that's what I wanted to share with you ladies that "Saint Patrick" was a true Christian and I believe his life is worth honoring and remembering. May it be a good reminder to continue to honor, pray, and support missionaries in America and all over the world too. That's what I wanted to share with you ladies. Blessings, happy St Patrick's Day, and have a blessed week everyone.

Hi ladies it's me again and happy Lord's day! I hope and pray that each of you ladies and your families are doing well. I'm happy to present another blog honoring "Women's History Month". I'm happy to honor another singer and the one and only Jennifer Hudson! Yep that name should sound familiar. What was her background like? She was raised by a single mom and had siblings her older sister and had a brother and was raised in Chicago, Illinois. She grew up singing in church like her late grandmother and grew up listening to people like Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Patti Labelle, the late Aretha Franklin and grew up listening to gospel music. I wouldn't be surprised she was nicknamed "The Voice" since she sang her first solo in church at seven years old and grew up Baptist. She later graduated from high school and briefly attended "Langston University" and "Kennedy Cole College" but dropped out of both. She later signed to independent label called Righteous records and even sang on Disney cruise ships for a number of years prior to her voice gaining national attention. Jennifer Hudson auditioned for season 3 of "American Idol" along with Fantasia, Diana Degamore, Jasmine Trias, George Huff, (he'd later be a gospel artist) and countless others. Some believe that season 3 of "American Idol" was one of the best seasons yet as so many great singers were on there. Jennifer Hudson joined Fantasia, Diana Degamore, Jasmine Trias, George Huff, and others in the top 12 as they rightfully deserved to be there and for each week of "American Idol" sang various styles of music, had different themes, and had various music mentors. Fantasia and Jennifer Hudson were among some of the best voices during that season even though they wound up in the bottom two! It was during top 7 that Fantasia and Jennifer Hudson when that happened and surprisingly Jennifer Hudson got eliminated! I'm sure that was a shock for the judges as well as the audience because of Jennifer's big voice while a month later Fantasia won the competition! What a drastic turn of events. Even though Jennifer Hudson made it to the top 7, that didn't mean her life was over. As a matter of fact, her journey was just beginning! She along with winner Fantasia, Diana Degamore, Jasmine Trias, (third place winner) George Huff, and others did the "American Idol tour" during that summer where fans got to hear Jennifer's voice all over again. After "American Idol" Jennifer Hudson's life took a drastic turn for the better. She was cast for the musical film called "Dream Girls" along with Eddie Murphy, Jamie Fox, Anika Noni Rose, (she later did the voice for Tiana for 2009's "Princess And The Frog") and legendary Beyonce solo artist and former lead singer of disbanded group "Destiny's Child"! "Dream Girls" was loosely inspired by legendary female group called "The Supremes" (Diana Ross was in that band prior to being a solo artist) and many women auditioned for that such as the late Whitney Houston, Fantasia winner of season 3 of "American Idol" and others making it very competitive. But the cast that got cast was a good fit and it was Jennifer Hudson's film debut as "Effie" and it caused her to be more famous! She won many awards for that and in 2008 she started in the "Secret Life Of Beese" along with Queen Latifah and Alicia Keys causing it do well in box office. She also released her debut album called "Jennifer Hudson" which established her as an R&B artist. She has since released other albums called "I Remember Me" in 2011,"JHUD" in 2014 and "The Gift Of Love" her first Christmas album in 2024! It seems as though her life was a fairytale but there were some significant challenges she dealt with behind the scenes. She had several family members that were murdered in late 2008 causing there to be significant trauma for her. She had two different romantic relationships such as James Payson and David Sr that didn't last and through the tragic death of loved ones David Sr got her pregnant and in 2009 had David Jr! She's now currently in a relationship with a guy named Common a Christian, rapper, actor, and activist. Jennifer Hudson's success has continued on and collaborated with five member acapella group the "Pentatonix" and starred as Aretha Franklin in the year 2021 after coming out of COVID! (Aretha Franklin died in 2018 in her seventies.) She was able to sing songs on that film such as"Natural Woman ", "Chain Of Fools" as well as"Respect" and many fans absolutely loved that movie and felt she was the "perfect fit" for it! She had the voice and looks and she won many awards for that movie. Jennifer Hudson also branched out to other areas and since 2022 has hosted her show called "The Jennifer Hudson Show" and has had many guest stars on there including legendary gospel artists Kirk Franklin and Cece Winans to name a couple! What's so cool about Jennifer Hudson is not only everything she touches "turns to gold" but she's remained "down to earth" despite her success. She knows that everything she has and has accomplished has happened because of the Lord and hard work. She has a thriving relationship with the Lord and credits Him for being where she is today and honors those that went before her. She despite not winning "American Idol" is among the third most successful "American Idol finalist" behind season one winner and pop artist Kelly Clarkson and season 4 winner and country artist Carrie Underwood! She also has broken racial barriers causing for her to be liked by black and white audiences! That's what I wanted to share with you ladies. Blessings, happy Lord's day, have a great week, and we have much to celebrate about in "Women's History Month!"

Hi ladies it's me again and hope y'all are doing well. I'm happy to present to y'all another blog for ''Women's History Month'' and the lady I'm writing about today is Candace Cameron Bure! The name may sound familiar but what about her background? Candace was born in 1976 in Panorma City, California. She was born to Robert a now retired teacher and homemaker Barbara. Candace has two older sisters whose names are Melissa, Bridgette, and Kirk. (Yes that's right her older brother is Kirk Cameron born in 1970 who was on the popular t.v. series called ''Growing Pains'' from 1985 to 1992.) When Candace was young she made guest appearances on various shows including ''Growing Pains'' the show her brother Kirk Cameron was in. In 1987 when she was eleven years old, she played Donna ''DJ'' Tanner'' on popular family sitcom called ''Full House'' and that show remained popular on television until 1995. (The other guest people featured on that show were Mary Kate and Ashley Olson who played Michelle Tanner the youngest of all of them.) It would be after ''Full House'' ended that Candace guest starred on other t.v. shows and starred in movies and fell in love and married Valeri Bure in 1996 a former ice hockey player. During their marriage they had three children Natasha, (born 1998) Lev, (born 2000) and Maksim (born 2002) It would be for a number of years that Candace took a acting hiatus to focus on mothering and being a good wife to her husband. She'd co-host various shows and guest starr on television shows during her hiatus. But most of all it would be a time that motherhood made Candace think about the Lord and gave her life to Christ. She also stated that her older brother Kirk Cameron who was already a Christian by then prayed for her and contributed to her wanting to come to Christ.(Kirk Cameron late r hosted the show ''The Way Of The Master'', became an evangelist, and acted in many Christian films especially the ''Left Behind series''.) It would take awhile for her husband Valeri to come to Christ but with perseverance, prayer, and her living a godly life that her husband eventually came to know Christ as his Lord and Savior. (The rest of Kirk and Candace's siblings and parents as well as others in their family would also give their lives to the Lord and live for Him too.) It would be through her and her husband's example that their three kids would come to know Christ as Lord and Savior too. As time went on, the Lord started opening doors for Candace to get back into acting when her kids got older and began starring in many movies that were family friendly. In 2008, she starred in ''Hallmark Christmas movie'' called ''Moonlight And Mistletoe'' as Holly and continued to starr in many more Hallmark movies after that. Other Hallmark movies were ''Let It Snow'', ''Christmas Under Wraps'', ''Journey Back To Christmas'', ''A Christmas Detour'', ''Christmas Town'', ''If I Only Had Christmas'' among another Hallmark movies. She also starred in Christian films such as ''The Heart Of Christmas'', (along with Christian actress Erin Bethea. and Matthew West) ''Finding Normal'', ''Faith Of Our Fathers'', ''Unsung Hero'' (based on the life of Christians and Contemporary Christian artists Rebecca St James and ''King And Country'') After 15 years of being an actress on the Hallmark channel in the year 2022 the past four years she transitioned from ''Hallmark'' to ''Great American Family Channel.'' The reason why she did that is because she wanted to be sure that the films she was acting in not only are family friendly but most of all honor the Lord in the way she felt was important. Several Christmas movies that she starred in on the ''Great American Family Channel'' was ''A Christmas Present'', ''My Christmas Hero'', ''Home Sweet Christmas'', ''Another Sweet Christmas'', and ''Timeless Tidings Of Joy''. In addition to Candace being a family woman and being an actress she has also written four books called ''Reshaping It All; Motivation For Physical And Spiritual Fitness'', ''Balancing It All; My Story Of Juggling Priorities And Purpose'', ''Dancing Through Life;Steps Of Courage And Conviction'', and ''Kind Is The New Classy; The Power Of Living Graciously''. The other cool part is that in 2014, Candace danced with dance partner Mark Ballas on best known ballroom television show called ''Dancing With The Stars'' on season 18 and ultimately came in third place. What is so cool about Candace despite her success has never let success ''get to her head'', success never made her drift away from the Lord, and success has never kept her away from being a good wife to her husband and mother to her children who are now adults. Candace has always kept her Christian faith front and center in her private life, family life, in her acting career, writing books, and even when she competed on the show ''Dancing With The Stars''. I believe that God is honored by that and Candace I believe lives out Matthew 5;16 when Jesus said. ''Let your light shine before men so they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven''. That also lets me know that there are ''entertainers'' out there who love the Lord and represent Him in all that they do which is a real encouragement to me and pray that it's an encouragement to you ladies as well. It's also encouraging to see Candace's brother Kirk represent the Lord in the entertainment world as well in addition to him being an evangelist. That's what I wanted to share with you ladies today. Blessings to each of you ladies, have a blessed week, and have a ''Happy Women's History Month'' too.

Hi ladies it's me again and happy Lord's day! I hope and pray that each of you ladies and your families are doing well. I'm happy to present another blog in ''Women's History Month'' and the lady I want to honor this Lord's day is the legendary Mattie-Moss-Clark. This maybe a name y'all may or may not be familiar with but who is that? Let's start with her beginnings. She was born in 1925 to the late Fred John Moss and his wife Mattie Juliet and was number of seven of nine children in her family! (Side note it was common for people back then to have alot of kids and the number seven according to the Bible is the number of completion!) Dr Mattie grew up in a Christian home all her life, got saved as a young child, and played piano at the age of six years old. When she was twelve years old, she became a musician for her mother at ''Holiness Temple Church Of Christ In Prayer'' and traveled at missions services. After she graduated from high school in 1943, she attended ''Selma University'' a private historical black Bible college to obtain training in classical music or choral singing. After graduating from there in 1947, she moved to Detroit, Michigan to be with her sister Sybil and became a member of ''Greater Love Tabernacle Church Of God In Christ. It would be while there under Bishop W Rimpson that she received the baptism in the Holy Ghost evidence of speaking in tongues and subsequently became a music director for her church and for other churches in her area! The Holy Spirit anointed and appointed her to lead choirs into the presence of the Lord in song! But she didn't stop there though. In addition to being a music director, Dr Mattie was a gifted songwriter and wrote and recorded songs with the ''Southwest Michigan State Choir'' and recorded ''Going To Heaven To Meet The King'' one of their most popular singles. With that choir, she received gold albums, wrote many songs, and recorded over fifty albums with them! Whew! She also directed the ''Cadillac Motor Company Christmas Choir'' for eleven years they sang for the NAACP (National Association Advancement For Colored People) Freedom Fund Dinners. The other cool thing was that she was good friends with the late gospel artist James Cleveland and they both together started ''Gospel Music Workshop Of America'' (GMWA) convention took place in 1968 which was held at ''King Solomon Baptist Church'' and that convention has been held ever since that time. Dr Mattie in spite of her music accomplishments she also was a family woman too. She was married and divorced twice and had six children. Her first husband Leo Cullum Sr in 1945 and had two kids with them. Their oldest son was Leon Cullum Jr and daughter was Jacqueline ''Jacky'' Lenita. After her divorce, she married her late second husband Elbert Clark (born 1927 died in 2001) and had four daughters with him. Deniese, Elbernita ''Twinky'', Dorinda Grace, (later became known as Dorinda-Clark-Cole) and Karen (later to be known as Karen Clark-Sheard) Prior to her and Elbert's divorce in 1973, Dr Mattie had her daughters sing at their father's church which meant that they inherited their mother and late grandmother's musical talent. Dr Mattie raised her daughters and son to love the Lord and use their talents for Him. Each of her daughters got saved at a young age and their mother pushed them to sing and they practiced a ton at home too. Because they practiced alot in the house while many of their peers played outside which meant they sacrificed some of their childhood like ''The Jacksons'' did before them. (Side note the difference is ''The Clark Family'' did it for the glory of God verses ''The Jacksons'' did it for fame and to get out of poverty. Her daughters often sang the songs that their mother wrote and performed them at their church as well as other conventions all throughout the Detroit, Michigan area. That was also the year that her daughters recorded the album that ''Jesus Has Alot To Give'' through Billese records an independent record label and her daughters performed on ''TV Gospel Time''. As the years continued to progress, God opened more doors for Dr Mattie and her daughters who became known as ''The Clark Sisters'' who released more albums that caused them to gain more attention in the area. The albums names were ''Dr Mattie Moss Clark Presents The Clark Sisters'' in 1974, ''Unworthy'', ''Count It All Joy'', and ''He Gave Me Nothing To Lose'' under Sound of Gospel records. Through the release of those albums ''The Clark Sisters'' started to have more hit singles such as ''Speak Lord'', ''Expect Your Miracle'', "'Eternal Life'' etc that are still sung in many black churches today. Dr Mattie basically with the help of the Lord enabled for her daughters to become ''legendary gospel artists'' that have touched the world for the glory of God! That shows the power of a mother that can change the world through her seed! As time went on Dr Mattie turned over to her daughter Twinkie to lead with the write, produce, arrange, and direct ''The Clark Sisters'' as their popularity continued to soar. ''The Clark Sisters'' released one of the most biggest songs of all and album in 1981 called ''You Brought The Sunshine'' which brought them their first Grammy award and NAACP image award and I'm sure that was something that their mother Dr Mattie was very proud about. Her daughters were able to obtain a Grammy award without compromising their faith, talent, and them living for God. As time went by, Dr Mattie's daughters released more albums, grew up got married and had kids causing Dr Mattie to enjoy being a grandmother. She had health issues during her latter years such as suffering from diabetes, had her right leg amputated, and suffered a stroke causing her to use a wheelchair. But despite that, she continued to love the Lord, love her family, and record music all the way up to the last year of life when she transitioned from this life to heaven in 1994 the year I was born. Though she's gone home to be with the Lord in heaven, her legacy still lives on through her daughters especially Dorinda-Clark Cole and Karen Clark-Sheard (they're the few in ''The Clark Sister'' who have become solo gospel artists) Kierra Sheard, (daughter of Karen-Clark-Sheard) Bill Moss Jr, and J Moss! Through her, multiple people in her family love the Lord and are continuing on in the gospel music industry and legacy! There was a Christian musical film that was released in 2020 called ''The Clark Sisters; The First Ladies Of Gospel'' causing Kierra Sheard to play her mom Karen-Clark-Sheard and Aunjanue Ellis played the late Dr Mattie causing there to be positive reviews from ''The Clark Sisters'' and fans alike! Wow! What a beautiful legacy! That's what I wanted to share with you ladies. Blessings, happy Lord's day, have a blessed week, and ''Happy Women's History Month!''

Hi ladies it's me again and happy Tuesday! I hope and pray that each of you ladies and your families are doing well. I'm happy to present another blog for ''Women's History Month'' and the title of it's called ''Honoring Mary Kay''. How did her life begin? Her life began when she was born in Hot Wells Texas in 1918 and died in Dallas, Texas in November 2001 at 83 years old. She was born Mary Kathyrn Wagner born to the late Edward and Lula Vastings Wagner. Her mom worked as a nurse and later worked as a manager of a restaurant which was crazy especially when back then alot of women (especially white women) didn't work outside the home especially back then. Mary Kay accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior as a child and continued to walk with Him for the rest of her life until the day she died. She claims that without the Lord she wouldn't be where she is today and her faith would shape her family and business. Mary later attended ''Dow Elementary school'' and attended ''Reagan High school'' and graduated from there in 1934. Mary Kay married her first husband whose name was Ben Rogers with whom she had three kids whose names were Ben Jr, Marilyn, and Richard Rogers and the marriage lasted until 1945 when they got divorced. For a time he was deployed as a veteran serving in World War 2 but he later returned home and he had drinking problems which caused alot of problems in their marriage is another reason why they divorced. But six years before they got divorced, when she was 21 years old she worked at ''Stanley Home Products'' store back in 1939 and worked there for the next 24 years. What contributed to her wanting to become a business woman was that while she worked at ''Stanley Home Products'' there was a man that she trained that unfortunately got promoted above her which is what led her to retirement at 45 years old in 1963. That was also the same year she got married to her second husband whose name was George Hallenbeck who helped her start a new business plan but sadly died of a heart attack leaving Mary Kay a widow. But Mary Kay's oldest son Ben Jr invested $5,000 to help with his mom's business and shortly after that Mary started ''Mary Kay Cosmetics'' that has now been in business for the past 63 years! Mary Kay also believed that God was ''her business partner'' who gave her wisdom on how to make the business and that she has the ''Golden Rule'' mentality on how to treat customers. Mary Kay hosted house parties, doing facials, and was known for having prizes for women. Women who sell various products can get a red jacket, win expensive cars, jewelry, trips on luxurious vacations, and 50% off commission. Mary Kay believed that women can work less hours while doing what they love and doing it with friends. She believes God first, family second, and career third which helped women that she mentored to keep that order formula. Mary Kay's business grew from a small unknown business owner to becoming one of the most known businesses all over the world! What y'all have to remember is when this business got started in 1963, not many women black or white Christian or nonChristian, worked in the business world. Black women were underpaid while white women were not encouraged to pursue life beyond graduating from high school and having a family. That's what it was but God had bigger plans for her and bigger plans for those Mary touched with her business. This business was built by a woman and for women and since then many women have become Mary kay consultants. Some of them worked regular jobs and as their business became successful were able to quit their jobs to devote to this full-time. (Side note mom used to be a Mary Kay consultant for a season when I was younger and I did too for one year 2022 until early 2024 until God released me to do other things too.) She has won countess awards such as ''Horatio Alger Award'' and won the Golden Plate Award for the ''American Academy Of Achievement''.In the midst of her success as a business woman, she married one last time to a man named Melville J Ash in 1966 when she was 48 years old and remained married to him until his death in 1980 when she was 62 years old where she remained widowed the rest of her life until her death in 2001. She in 1996 was inducted to the ''Junior Achievement Business Hall Of Fame'' and started the ''Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation'' to help fight against domestic violence for women and cancers that affect women as well. Despite the success that Mary Kay Ash had, she never lost her sense of being ''down to earth''. Here were some key principles that Mary Kay Ash lived by; 1 Live by the Golden Rule, 2 Define your priorities, 3, Trust your instincts, 4. Continue to learn and improve 5. Practice discipline and time management, 6. Be open to change 7. Make everyone feel important 8. Be enthusiastic 9. Remain humble 10. Be generous in praising people. I believe those principles are what helped Mary Kay Ash stay grounded despite the growth of her business. We know that alot of times when people get successful they get what I call ''the big head'' and forget how to relate to people much less honoring and loving God. The other cool thing about Mary Kay was she wrote Get well, Sympathy cards, and Encouragement cards to her business partners and clients and added ''The Cross In My Pocket Poem'' along with the cross on her cards! She supported her church financially with the wealth God blessed her with and with attendance as well as encouraging others to grow deeper in the Lord. Mary Kay Ash did not allow success to make her not forget the Lord her God a very good lesson for us all to remember. She remained active with her business despite her old age and finished her course when she went home to be with the Lord at 83 years old in 2001. When she died, there were 800,000 representatives in 37 countries with a total annual sales of over $200 million dollars! What a beautiful life and legacy of a woman who kept God in the center of her business that still goes on today long after she has gone to heaven! That also shows that one can be successful in their business while keeping God at the center of it all and prioritizing family too. That's what I wanted to share with you ladies. Blessings to each of you ladies, have a blessed week, and ''Happy Women's History Month!''
By Sommer Kelly February 26, 2026
Hi ladies it's me again, happy Lord's day, and happy first day of ''Women's History Month!'' The first lady I'll be writing a blog about this month is one and only legendary gospel artist Mahalia Jackson! She was born in 1911 and died in 1972 when she was in her early sixties. How did her life begin? Mahalia was born in New Orleans, Louisiana born to the late Clark and Jackson though they both were unmarried. Later her father left and her mom moved closer to Mahalia's late grandparents who were former slaves to help raise her. Mahalia and her siblings were raised in the Baptist church and were raised where certain things were not allowed in the house such as secular music, no card games, no juke joints, or no drinking. Dancing was only allowed in church; it was moved by the Spirit! After Mahalai's mom died when she was five years old, she and her siblings were reared by their late mom's sister Aunt Duke who continued raising them until they were grown. Mahalia attended elementary school when she was five years old only to have dropped out of school when she was only ten years old! Music was in her home life growing up and sang in the kids choir at her local church. Mahalia also learned to have a good hard work ethic and learned how to scrub floors and mattresses and sometimes had to help clean homes. Mahalia also gave her life to the Lord at a young age and vowed to serve Him for the first of her life from that moment on. When Mahalia was twelve years old joined the Junior choir and often attended church on Sundays and Wednesdays. Mahalia had a very difficult relationship with her Aunt Duke and got so bad that one of her other aunts named Aunt Hannah requested her to move in with her to Chicago, Illinois! Well Mahalia took her up for her offer and they left New Orleans, Louisiana and moved to Chicago, Illinois in 1927 known as ''The Great Migration.'' What was ''The Great Migration?'' That meant that many blacks who lived in the South moved North for them to have better opportunities for them to be around whites mostly because there was unfortunately racism in the South. Mahalia was asked to join the 50 voice choir at ''Greater Salem Baptist Church'' she attended there which caused quite a bit of comotion there. As time went by Mahalia continued singing not only at her local church but got invited to sing in other churches in the area and people began to realize what a lovely contralto voice that she had. She continued working odd jobs during the early years of her recording career just to make ends meet before she started to do music full-time. By that time she met a guy named Isaac Hockenhull whom they dated for a year before they got married in 1936. He wanted for his wife Mahalia to sing Jazz because he didn't believe that gospel music was ''artful''. She auditioned for a secular gig which she absolutely hated and turned down working with Louis Armstrong Earl Hines much to her husband's disbelief all because Mahalia refused to sing or work with secular artists! That's how truly committed she was to the Lord and to gospel music! Mahalia later got discovered by producer whose name was Mayo Ink Williams who helped produce singles she'd be known for such as ''God's Gonna Separate Me From The Wheat And Tares'', ''You Sing On My SInger'', ''God Shall Wipe Away My Tears'', and ''Keep Me Everyday''. That would also be the time that Thomas A Dorsey often accompanied to play for Mahalia and even wrote the majority of the songs that she would be well known for. Mahalia later became music director at ''St Luke's Baptist Church'' and continued growing her salon businesses to the point it became successful she needed to hire more people to take care of it while she was gone traveling on weekends for her music gigs. As time continued to progress things didn't go well in Mahalia's first marriage to Isaac and sadly they divorced in 1946. But despite that, God continued opening up doors for Mahalia and by the year ''Moving Up A Little Higher'' was released a year after Mahalia's divorce and it sold $50,000 copies in Chicago and sold two million copies nationwide which was a big deal for a gospel artist especially back then. She continued producing more projects which caused her to give up her beauty salon and give up her role as music director at ''St Luke's Baptist Church'' and more and more doors continued to open for her by the grace of God to continue singing in concerts in both Christian and secular halls. On October 1st 1950, Mahalia Jackson made history by being the first gospel artist to have performed at Carnegie Hall because prior to that time, only secular artists had performed there. More and more doors continued to open for her as she in 1954 sang at ''Royal Albert Hall'' in London in 1954 and later became the first gospel artist to have signed with a secular label called Columbia records! In 1956, at a ''National Baptist Convention'' she met and befriended the late Dr Martin Luther King Jr and remained friends with him until his death in 1968. Mahalia continued to support and sing for Dr King Jr's ''Civil Rights Movement'' which helped make her more famous and God allowed her to continue to minister in song through various secular arenas as well. Some of the arenas were ''Newport Jazz Festival'' and ''Jazz On A Summer Day''. She continued singing, supporting Dr King Jr despite his multiple arrests, and continued traveling all over the world to proclaim the gospel of Christ through song. She even encouraged Dr King Jr to share the ''I HAve A Dream Speech'' in 1963 though he intended to share a different speech. Out of loneliness she started dating Sigmund Galloway and eventually married him in 1964 in her living room. While being married to him, she suffered many physical health ailments causing her not to tour or record albums for a year which was overwhelming for her. Things in her second marriage went from bad to worse causing him to abandon her and causing him to threaten to abuse her which she could take no more and in 1966 they divorced but she managed to keep that private. One popular gospel song that Mahalia Jackson was known for singing was ''Precious Lord Take My Hand'' written by Thomas A Dorsey, a well known gospel classic that urges a Christian to look to the Lord for help and to bring them home. That became one of Dr King Jr's favorite anthems and by the time Dr King Jr died in 1968, she sang that at his funeral. Mahalia's health troubles continued to escalate but despite that she kept ministering the gospel even though doctors urged her to cut down on performing which she did. She toured in countries like Japan, Caribbean, Liberia, and even in India where her shows were sold out! That was unusual for a gospel artist to tour in countries especially back then but that was the anointing and the favor of God in her life. Mahalia later toured in Germany where she became ill and was flown back to Chicago, Illinois where she was hospitalized and later went home to heaven in 1972 in her early sixties. Many politicians and celebrities gave her eulogy as well as many mourners who were touched by her music and her music was heard by loud speakers at her funeral. Even though she's gone home to be with the Lord, her music still touches people's lives today and her legacy still lives on. She was inducted to the ''Gospel Music Hall Of Fame'' in 1978 six years after she went home to heaven and in 1997 was inducted to the ''Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame''. She also was known for being the ''Queen Of Gospel'' that inspired by gospel artists male and female gospel artists after her. Wow what a legacy and what a way to kick off ''Women's History Month!"' That's what I wanted to share with you ladies and can't wait to share more this March on ''Women's History Month''. Blessings to each of you ladies, happy Lord's day, and have a blessed week everyone.
