Hi ladies it's me again and happy Lord's day! I hope and pray that each of you ladies and your families are doing well. I'm happy to present another Christmas blog to y'all and it's based off of chapter 5 from my second book "My 20 Day Christmas Devotional" that's called"Remembering God's Promise The Arrival Of John The Baptist". That's what we'll be talking about here the birth of John the Baptist and his parents Zechariah and his wife Elizabeth. Here's the interesting thing here. Elizabeth is likely the third cousin twice removed from the Virgin Mary because Elizabeth was older and we shared from the blog last week that the Virgin Mary was a teenager! Elizabeth was likely the Virgin Mary mother or grandmother's first cousin! Ironically I shared about this last week Sunday night at Bible study about Luke 1 how Zechariah Elizabeth's husband went about his priestly duties offering incense and how Gabriel appeared to him startling him! I can only imagine the thoughts going through his mind because Gabriel likely was filled with the shekinah glory of God but Gabriel told him that his prayer was heard and his wife would bear him a son and call him John. Gabriel told Zechariah that John the Baptist would be a forerunner for Christ and that he was to be a Nazarite not to be confused with Nazarene. A Nazarite wasn't to drink alcohol, eat raisins, touch dead things , grapes, or cut their hair because they were to be set apart. (Samson and Samuel along with John the Baptist were to be Nazarite the moment they were born until the day they died.) Unfortunately Zechariah didn't believe Gabriel and Gabriel struck him mute until his son would be born! Thankfully Gabriel didn't kill Zechariah for unbelief because angels have been noted about putting people to death for various reasons in the Old and New Testament. God spoke to me recently that Zechariah allowed his emotions to get him into unbelief is one reason why God allowed Gabriel to struck him mute. Despite that Elizabeth conceived in her old age and gave birth to John the Baptist. After baby John was born Zechariah was able to talk again! That shows God's mercy despite Zechariah's unbelief and I pray that even though y'all know this story to think about what y'all have been praying for. It maybe to have a baby but it maybe praying for salvation for a loved one, for someone to be physically healed, for the unemployed to have a job or underemployed to get a better job, or to get married or remarried is to stay in faith. As I said God warned me in prayer don't allow my emotions to get me into unbelief like Zechariah the priest did. All of us will have our faith challenged at some point as did Zechariah the priest did but God expects us to still trust Him. Zechariah and his wife Elizabeth waited a long time to have a baby and perhaps some of you ladies have been praying for certain things for day, weeks, months, and even years as I have too. I pray that this will encourage y'all to keep the faith despite it may be taking a while for your prayers to be answered. Also if you haven't gotten my book my "20 Day Christmas Devotional" I'd highly encourage you to get it from my store app on this website or get it on Amazon. Blessings, happy Lord's day, Merry Christmas, and have a blessed week everyone.
