HI ladies it's me again and happy Lord's day! I hope and pray that each of you ladies and your families are doing well. I have something exciting to share with y'all. It's February and we know it's Valentine month but it's also ''Black History Month'' too. All throughout this month, I'll be sharing about black people of faith who changed the world. Of course there's blacks I'm sure who are nonChristians but because of my faith I wanted to share about black people of faith. The first one I will share about is Della Reese who was born in 1931 who passed away in 2017. This precious godly woman lived to be 86 years old and had a seven decade career which is unheard of. She was born in Detroit Michigan to a steelworker father and her mother who was a cook in Her family was poor as many blacks were at that time but they cleaved to God to get through it. She also sang in church at a very young age and continued to sing throughout the rest of her life. She even briefly attended Wayne State university after high school but dropped out after the death of her parents. As she got older, she began to get involved with the music industry and even sang backup vocals for legendary gospel singer Mahahlia Jackson! She'd later get into Jazz music and realised the single called ''Don't You Know'' and would continue to be known as a Jazz singer throughout the 1950s, 1960s, and the 1970s. She'd also venture into acting and starred in many t.v. shows and movies. But the most popular television special she was on was religious drama called ''Touched By An Angel'' which aired from 1994 (the year I was born) until 2003 when she played the role as Tess and sang the show's theme song ''I'll Walk With You''. Roma Downey, an Irish Christian lady actress, was her co-star when she played Monica and the two would form a friendship and would reveal themselves as angels and encourage people every week about God's love. Other stars would join them on the show. John Dye (born 1963 until 2011) played Andrew from 1996 until 2003 as the ''angel of death'' while Valerie Bertenelli played the angel Gloria from 2001 until 2003. The show struggled the first couple of years but overtime it's popularity grew and is still one of the best beloved shows of all time featuring reruns on Hallmark channel and youtube as well. In addition to that, Della was known as a minister and got ordained in the 1980s and was pastor of the ''Up Church'' from the 1980s all the way to her death in 2017 and was known as ''Rev Della''. She was a family lady and was married four times and divorced three times. She was married to her fourth husband Franklin Lefft Jr from 1983 until her death and had four children, many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She is known for her love for God, family, pastoring, singing, and acting, and will be forever remembered for her strong legacy of faith and being influential throughout Hollywood and touching the world. This is my first blog for ''Black History Month'' and y'all will be expecting more. Blessings, happy Lord's day, and have a blessed week everyone.
